Dogs

The arrangement

• One dog, in either of the two ground-floor Garden Queens nearest the garden door. Those two rooms have a hard floor and a door straight outside, which is why they are the ones.
• Twenty-five dollars a night, which covers the deeper clean those rooms get afterwards and is not a deposit.
• Told to us when you book. Not on arrival — if both those rooms are taken that night, the answer is no, and it is a much better no in advance.
• Welcome in the garden and in the hall. Not in the breakfast room, not in the parlour, and not upstairs.
• Not left alone in a room. A dog by itself in an unfamiliar room in a timber-framed building is heard by everybody, and it is not fair on the dog either.

Assistance dogs

Welcome in every part of this building including the breakfast room and every guest room, at no charge, with no advance notice required and nothing to arrange. Telling us anyway is helpful, because we will put a water bowl in the room and tell you where the nearest patch of grass is, but it is not a condition of anything.

We will not ask you to document anything. If you tell us the dog is an assistance dog, that is the end of the conversation.

What we ask

That the dog is house-trained, is on a lead in the hall and the garden, and does not go on the bed — there is a blanket in the room for exactly this. If something is chewed or damaged we will tell you what it cost and charge that, rather than keeping a deposit against a number nobody agreed.

Guests who would rather not

The two dog rooms are on the ground floor at the back and a dog does not pass through the breakfast room to reach the garden. If you are allergic, say so when you book and we will put you upstairs and tell you honestly whether a dog has been in the building that week.
