The two that do not

The Snug takes one person of any age, and one only. It is a hundred and thirty square feet with a single bed in it and there is nowhere for a second person to be.

The Courtyard Twins are two three-foot singles that cannot be joined and there is no floor space for a cot beside them. That is a fact about the room rather than a view about children.

Cots

Three of them, free, first asked first served. Tell us when you book rather than on arrival — if all three are out on the night you come, the answer has to be no, and finding that out at 10pm with a tired baby is nobody's idea of a good evening.

Extra beds for older children

There is no rollaway bed in this building and we will not put a mattress on a floor. A family of four is an Attic Double, which has two real double beds, or the Long Room Suite, which has a king and a sofa bed. A family of five does not fit in one room here and would be two rooms — which, since no two rooms in this building connect, is a thing to think about rather than to discover.

Breakfast, and the rest of it

Children eat at no charge, whatever their age, and the kitchen will cook something plain without being asked twice. There are two high chairs. The garden is not fenced from the terrace steps, which is worth knowing with a toddler.

Quiet in the house from ten at night applies to everybody, and we mention it because a timber-framed building carries the sound of a child running along a landing to every room on the floor below.
