Closed to arrivals

What it means

You may stay THROUGH one of these days. You may not ARRIVE on one. If your booking runs from the twenty-third to the twenty-seventh and the twenty-fifth is closed to arrivals, nothing about your stay changes: breakfast runs, somebody is here, your room is your room. What we will not do is take a new guest in on that day.

Why it is worth its own page

Because almost every booking system in this trade collapses it into "no availability", and those two sentences send a guest in different directions. Told there is nothing available, you assume the inn is full, you come back tomorrow and ask for the same night, and you get the same answer. Told we are closed to arrivals on that day, you arrive a day earlier or a day later and the room is there.

It is a small thing and it is the kind of small thing that decides whether a booking page is honest.

That is the list. It is short on purpose, it is published a year ahead, and if it changes this page changes with it — the booking engine and this page read the same table.

The third state

There is one more answer the booking page can give and it is neither of these: the room is free and the date needs more nights than you asked for. That has its own page too.
